In a studio tucked away in a quiet corner of South London, bathed in soft, warm light, a tableau of childhood unfurled. Laughter permeated the air, and the atmosphere buzzed with mischief and curiosity. Beyond a mere photoshoot, this was an enchanting journey into the invisible realms of creativity, echoing the fearless spirit of artist Hilma af Klint’s work with her courage to paint the unseen and explore the invisible worlds within.
Our AW24 collection draws inspiration from the expressive and visually captivating work of Hilma af Klint, a pioneer in abstract art. We sought to incorporate Klint’s favourtism of vibrant pastels, botanical forms evolving into the abstract, and her fascination with painting the unseen within nature.
In collaboration with artist Roisin O’Donnell, the theme of botanical forms morphs into illustrations of imagination, creating fanciful characters within a created world. A tiny snail in the work of Klint becomes a little explorer in our prints, leaving a trail throughout, but it remains shy and secret. Echoing the spirit of discovery that characterised Hilma af Klint’s artistic journey. As the children moved and played, the invisible worlds unfolded. The studio transformed into a canvas where each child painted their own story. Creating a snapshot where a group of new friends laughed uncontrollably.
